Relationship between Ayrton Senna and TAG Heuer began in the end of the 1980s when the famous racer was appointed as the company’s ambassador for the new S/el line of watches that TAG Heuer had presented in 1987. The collaboration continued up to 1994 when the legendary driver left the McLaren team for Williams-Renault.

In 1994 TAG Heuer released the great TAG Heuer 6000 model. This was the first and the only watch from this collection created while Senna was alive. What is more, the watch was developed with his involvement. The watch was released in a limited edition of 3000 pieces, it came in three sizes – men’s, mid-sized and women’s. There is the distinctive “Senna S” as well as a flag pattern.
In 2001 TAG Heuer released the second series of Ayrton Senna watches. The new model came in a limited edition of only 1,991 pieces. The series was released to mark Ayrton Senna’s final world championship in 1991.
The third Senna edition was released in 2002. Definitely, it holds the record for the strangest link between an event and the number of watches released. The brand released 4098 watches. Thus they marked the total number of minutes elapsed in the 41 races that were won by Senna.
Watches from the fourth edition that was released in 2003 feature Senna’s signature on the dial. The series was released in a limited edition of 4000 pieces.
The last series of Senna TAG Heuer watches was released in 2004 to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of Senna. The series comes in a limited edition of 2004 pieces.
