From October 31 to November 2, 2008, visitors of Aktionsforum Praterinsel were able to discover the fascinating universe of the complication watches, some of which are the most advanced creations of their time.

The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) exhibited about 65 historical wristwaches and pocketwatches in recognition of the watchmaking tradition of the Southern Germany. The unique chronometers were granted by the top fine watchmaking companies as well as by Swiss museums, including the the International Museum of Horology of La Chaux-de-Fonds, the Art and History Museum of Geneva, the Château des Monts Watchmaking Museum and the Beyer Clock and Watch Museum. The historical part of this exhibition included 24 chronometers presented by partner companies of the FHH.

After appearing in Beijing, Rome and Paris, the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie inaugurated its first exhibition on the German land. The visitors of “The World of Complication Watches” could discover the world of unique, handcrafted artistry and European cultural heritage. The collection included models showing the phases of moon, seasons or signs of the zodiac, watches with acoustical signal chiming hours or playing melodies as musical boxes. «The world of watches is a true cosmos of inventions», said Nicolas de Quatrebarbes, representative of the FHH in Germany. “We’re proud to have the privilege of presenting this European cultural treasure to the German public for the first time at this comprehensive show - and are looking forward to the visitors’ response and interest.”
